Additional Notes

  • JoyPack is the first game in which I deeply invested myself. It represents my debut as a programmer and allowed me to affirm my desire to work in the video game industry.
  • I always had an interest in programming, but before designing this game, I did not know how to make a mobile application. Among other things, I even remember having difficulties to define what an API was!
This game allowed me to acquire the basic knowledge required to create a video game. I learned a lot during this period – Source control, use of an IDE, loop of a game, OOP, debugging , Android stuff, and much more…
  • At that time, I was still keen on the idea of making a whole game by myself. My goal was to design all JoyPack components. So, in addition to the programming work, I produced most assets. This taught me how to use Photoshop, which I still use regularly today.
  • The game’s music was made on GarageBand with the help of a friend, Pierre-Thomas André.
